Jitka is recording a new album consisting of compositions by Paul Hindemith. The pieces will be performed with Jitka Čechová and Prague Chamber Orchestra.
Paul Hindemith was friends with the first Czech Viola Soloist Ladislav Černý. Černý was a pioneer for viola in the former Czechoslovakia. In 1922, at the Festival of Contemporary Music in Donaueschingen, Černý befriended Paul Hindemith and they became lifelong friends. Hindemith dedicated his Sonata for Solo Viola, Op. 25 No. 1 (1922) to Černý, this piece will be included in the CD.
The purpose of creating this album is to cherish the memory of Paul Hindemith and his significant contribution to the Viola musical repertoire, as well as to promote the German musical culture to the Czech audience.
